Psalms and Hymns

This tune book, designed for Psalms & Hymns of Reformed Worship, includes the best-loved compositions of the past, many new tunes, and fresh arrangements of some excellent 'lost' tunes. Over one hundred tunes will not be found in other British tune books in current use. About a quarter of these have been newly composed. Many others are older tunes of great beauty and suitability. These have been rearranged for modern use. The chief intention of this selection is to present tunes that are both melodic and memorable. The second intention is to match tunes to the mood and sentiments of hymns. The third is to produce a corpus of tunes consistent with intelligent and reverent worship.

Unusually for these days, tunes have been placed within metrical categories, in alphabetical order of name. This greatly reduces the length of the tune book, as many tunes are used for more than one hymn. It also makes it easier for alternative tunes to be selected.
